In the Bible-- Jesus fought temptation for 40 days-- fasting to prove his faith. And one Soddy Daisy church is using that example to resist some modern day distractions.
Morning services rarely begin at 10:45 at Soddy Daisy's Christ Family Church. Instead, folks mill about talking for 15 or 20 minutes. But slowly that face to face time was being taken over by the Facebook website... that is until church leaders stepped in
July the 12th is the day Pastor Calvin Nunley asked his congregation to close their computers.
he asked everyone to log off of Facebook for forty days. To end their friend requests, stop their status updates-- and go back to talking face-to-face.
Now the church is back to using Facebook for what they want--
getting the gospel out and notifying members of upcoming events.
And so far they say the difference in the pews is palpable.
